Frequently Asked QuestionsCreated April 2006 by Mike HuerecaPresident, ISA Tampa Bay Section. Officer: District 3 1. What other major events are going on near us? Mardi Gras at Universal Studios: KC & the Sunshine Band - April 22 "LOVE", this year's Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot! April 21 - June 11, romance blooms at the 13th annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, from love-struck Disney character topiaries to Flower Power Concerts under the stars. 2. What transportation is available between the Sheraton and the Airport? The Town & Country Transportation people that the hotel promotes are strange about insisting on only one suitcase and one carry on per person. Therefore your better choice is Mears Transportation One thing about going between the Sheraton and the airport: The Bee Line Expressway (Hwy 528) is parking lot in the mornings and afternoons during rush hours. Travel time is 30 minutes on a good day, can easily be one hour to travel the 12 miles on a bad day. Mears will pick you up 3 to 4 hours before your flight. Mears cost is $16. Might consider using a taxi at approxiately $35 and allow you to leave on a closer schedule. 3. What shuttle services are available from the Sheraton? This is the sheet that you will receive when you check in: Sheraton Shuttle Handout Their shuttle to Disney only takes you to the Main Transportation Center. From there you take a Disney bus, monarail, boat, to each of the parks. So you will easly kill one hour to 1 and a half hours to get from the hotel to a Disney park. Also from my Disney info you will learn that you need to be at the parks very early and even their 8:25am depart is too late. Therefore arrange with Mears or take a taxi or rent a car. 4. Do I need to rent a car for Disney? Mears Transportation is a very common limo service in Orlando. This is a good possiblly. A car is a good idea, put once you get to a Disney park, you should park it since it will cost you $9 to park at each park. Therefore use the free Disney buses to get from park to park. 5. Does the Sheraton Resort have a website? Yes, click on this link for that info. 6. What other attractions are close by and how far away are they? Click here for a list of other attractions near the hotel. 7. Are there discounted Disney World tickets? There are other offers of discounted Disney tickets outside of the hotel, but you are forced to listen to a high-pressure sales presentation about something like time-share condos. Sheraton Front desk sells 3 day tickets for adults for $192.50, Park Hopper option is additional $43 which must be used within 14 days. When you check in they will offer promotions for 50% off one day tickets but you have to listen to some sales presentation about some vacation property. Otherwise the one day tickets are only at each of the parks. Can also drive to Downtown Disney close to the interstate, see map, and buy at the info booths on Disney property. By the way, the difference in price between 3 days and 10 days at Disney is $30. They will get your money in the first 3 days. 8. Where can I find Disney World maps? This page contains several different maps. |
