Workshop for Wireless Sensors for the Factory Floor
Future Directions and Priorities for 21st Century Agile Manufacturing
Tuesday, October 6 at 8:30 a.m., Room 602, Reliant Center

The Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory (MEL) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is pleased to invite manufacturing stakeholders, researchers, system developers, and users, and other interested parties to join this industry workshop.

Sensors have long been essential elements of advanced manufacturing. Wireless technology has the potential to expand the benefits of using sensors on the factory floor due to the flexibility of tether-free connectivity of sensors.  The Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory (MEL) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recognizes the advantages and benefits of widely applying this wireless sensor technology in manufacturing environments.

This one-day workshop will identify industry needs, define current and future challenges, and highlight end-user priorities in using wireless sensors for shop floor applications to achieve 21st century agile manufacturing.  Your views and participation are essential!  Results of the workshop will help set future directions for research and development and set the basis for new standards. In addition, your guidance and participation will impact NIST/MEL technical plans and activities to ensure that the highest priority industry needs and challenges are addressed.

Part I – 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Part II – 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
